The Big Picture

The five-story building houses 16 district, ceremonial and first appearance magistrate courtrooms along with Clerk of Court, jury assembly and county probation offices. The secure basement level includes central holding and booking.

Due to the very specific needs of the courts and the level of finishes,  full mock up court rooms were constructed which were visited and verified by all of the court staff to ensure their level of quality was met before any additional courtrooms were built.

It was our task to implement cost saving strategies from early in design.  Pueblo County had a tight budget to build this building despite the needs for 16 new courtrooms, central holding and probation.  We implemented strategies from air delivery to finishes that saved money, while maintaining LEED certification and allowing the County to build out to additional courtrooms with expanded central holding in the basement. Budget was maintained on this project from very early in the design process to final bid documents.
